DIA DE LOS MUERTOS ART EXHIBITION

CALL FOR ARTISTS (18+)

2026 Theme

"Leyendas: The Stories of Mexico"

Stories have long been at the heart of Mexico's cultural identity. Passed down through generations, legends, myths, and folktales have preserved history, conveyed values, explained the unknown, and sparked the imagination. Rooted in Indigenous traditions and enriched by centuries of cultural exchange, these stories continue to evolve while remaining deeply connected to the communities that keep them alive.

For this exhibition, we invite artists to explore the rich world of Mexican legends through their own creative lens. Inspiration may come from beloved figures such as La Llorona, El Chupacabra, El Cucuy, and La Lechuza, as well as regional folklore, family stories, local traditions, and contemporary retellings.

Artists may choose to illustrate a specific tale, reinterpret legendary characters, or reflect on broader themes of identity, memory, spirituality, transformation, and community. We encourage diverse and imaginative approaches that honor the enduring role of storytelling in Mexican culture.

Leyendas: The Stories of Mexico celebrates the narratives that have shaped generations, connecting past and present through art while keeping these powerful stories alive for future audiences.
