We invite members of the community members to create ofrendas for this special Dia de los Muertos exhibit, including businesses, families, individuals, youth, K-12 school groups, non-profit organizations
and special interest groups.
Ofrendas (Altars) honor, remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed. Items on the altars help to lead their spirits home for the Days of the Dead on November 1st and 2nd. Ofrendas may honor families, friends, groups of people, such as military heroes, celebrities, activists, community leaders, etc.

The 2025 Community Ofrenda Display will be in the former Ward Building located at
540 N. Chaparral at the corner of Peoples St.

lf you simply want to add a photo to the central Community Ofrenda:
Photo Size Limit: 8.5" x 11"
Photo must be Framed
Bring a Copy or Print of your photo - Do not bring the ORIGINAL
Drop off at K Space Contemporary by October 18th
OR - Add your photo when you visit the Ofrenda Display
We keep photos and put them on the community ofrenda year after year.
Ofrenda Guidelines:
Eligibility: Anyone can participate! Youth groups ages 5-18 (Classes/clubs/after-school) in Corpus Christi and cities within a 50-mile radius, artists, and community members. Each group, club, organization, or individual may enter ONE altar. Note: Participating local K-12 School Groups will receive a $50 art supply stipend.

Label: K Space Contemporary will provide an 8.5"x11" label for your ofrenda using the information provided in the registration form.

Size: The altar may not exceed 8 feet in width or 8 feet in depth.
​
Stand Alone: altars must be stand-alone structures. Participants must bring their own tables, temporary walls, and display structures (boxes, shelves, tablecloths, etc.). There are no walls within this space, so all ofrendas must be free-standing. Altars will NOT back up against a wall. Drilling, nailing, or tacking into the existing walls is prohibited.

Lighting: The building does not have electricity. Organizers will provide general lighting, however electricity will NOT be provided for individual ofrendas. You may use battery-operated candles, tea lights or string lights for your ofrenda, or bring your own battery pack to plug into. Flammables (wax/wick candles) and generators are strictly prohibited.

No Sales Please: We wish to maintain a sense of reverence and memoriam for the deceased honored in the altar display. Therefore, sales from altars and inside the display are prohitited. To sell arts, crafts, or food items, you must apply for an outdoor booth through our Arts and Crafts Expo application.

Security: Do not leave valuable items or original photographs on your ofrenda. Leave only copies of photos rather than originals. Attendants will be stationed in the display during open hours. You may station an attendant with your altar during the event if you so choose. At closing time, attendants will usher remaining visitors out, close and lock the doors. The doors are locked at all other times outside of the posted display, set up and tear down times.
