Hecho-A-Mano Guidelines:
ACCEPTABLE ITEMS

Original Artwork, Designs, and Crafts
-
All items must be original artwork conceived, designed, and created by the artist.

Examples include but are not limited to: paintings, drawings, sculpture, hand-built or wheel-thrown ceramics, polymer clay creations, hand-pulled prints (woodcut, intaglio, silkscreen, linocut, etching, engraving, monotype, etc.), photography, fiber/sewing, collages, mixed media, digital art and designs, needle work, bead work, and other original designs.
Reproductions & Novelty Items printed with your Original Artwork

Reproductions or Prints of your own original artwork (inkjet/laser prints, posters, cards, etc.).

All reproductions must be clearly marked with the word “Reproduction.”

Novelty items (mugs, ornaments, mousepads, coasters, stickers, etc.) are acceptable only if they feature your original artwork/design.

Limit: Reproductions and novelty items combined may not exceed 30% of your booth inventory.

Photos of these items must be included in your application.
Hand-Embellished Items

Recycled or purchased items are only acceptable if they are substantially altered by your original artistic work.

Embellished Items must differ significantly from their original form and reflect original design.

Techniques must clearly show the artist’s hand: painting, collage, beadwork, carving, mosaics, embroidery, decoration, etc.

Examples: decorated wine bottles, cigar boxes, repainted figurines, hand-painted dishes, ornaments, frames, embellished textiles like totes, aprons, towels, pillows, shoes, hats, etc.
Jewelry with Original Design

Jewelry must be based on original designs created by the artist.

Spots are limited for jewelry that primarily strings mass-produced beads/findings.

Unique, artist-designed jewelry is more likely to be accepted: handmade beads, pendants, or artist-designed elements in metal, ceramic, resin, polymer clay, etc.
T-Shirts (Invitation Only – Must Feature Original Designs)

Only artists invited by the festival may sell T-shirts.

Designs must be original artwork created by the exhibiting artist

All T-shirt designs must be submitted with the application

OTHER HAND-MADE ITEMS:
Hand-made Skin Care Items: soap, lotion, makeup, scrubs, bath bombs and other skin care items.
Packaged or Cottage Food Items​

Examples: baked goods like cookies, cake pops, cupcakes, etc., jerky, dip/drink/sauce mixes, canned goods (like salsa, pickles and jelly), candied apples, altered candy (like chamoy dipped or freeze-dried), etc.

Some Vendors fall in-between a food truck and a Packaged Food vendor. These will be handled on a case-by-case basis. (ex. cotton candy, paletera / popsicle cart, popcorn)

NOT ACCEPTED​
-
Items that are mass-produced and/or purchased for resale.

Mass-produced “buy-and-sell” T-shirts.

Knock-off designs imitating famous logos or artwork.
-
Items with copyrighted characters, logos, or images (Disney, sports teams, movies, bands, etc.).

Items made from commercial kits or plans, or simply assembled with no original artistry.

Any item displaying the following text (or variations):

“Día de los Muertos Festival”
-
“Día de los Muertos Street Fest/Festival”
-
“Día de los Muertos Corpus Christi”
These phrases are reserved exclusively for the official festival organization.

ARTS EXPO COMMITTEE: the committee will visit booths multiple times to review art pieces, crafts and setup during festival hours. Representatives will require vendors to remove any articles that are not in compliance with the criteria set forth in these guidelines and items that were not included in your original application. Vendors discovered selling buy-sell items or putting things back out after they have been asked to remove them will not be allowed to return as a vendor in future years.
